This is something Rencho Oh has been working on for some time, and here it is finally! Second Life's first iaidō game: "Iai Kiri Game Iza!!!Slash!!!" Available here.

Up to six players sit in circle, and when the !! mark shows up, hit W or the up arrow. The one who cuts the fastest is the winner. You can use any prop sword with it. (Even a banana if you like, but it is cooler with a sword, anyway.)

It's fun and trains your reflexes! :o)

Rencho provided a demo version, which will be in the north-west corner of the mall for some time.

The SL Kyūdō Federation and Kodama no Ki present Kodama no Ki's Kyūdō-jō, where, for the summer, you can train yourself at the Japanese way of the bow (archery) in the middle of a peaceful mountain forest. The dōjō works with haruki Yifu's kyūdō system, of which you can get a demo version or the full version here.

Some time ago Utilizator Mode has released his own take of Nightmare, from the Soul Calibur series. The avatar is female; she has Siegfried's sword from the Dreamcast version, and a left monster arm (maybe so that she can join the same kind of hand with a male version when they walk together? ^^;).

freedom Amiot has released two cosplay renditions of anime heroines who gave their name to titles: Shana (Shakugan no Shana) and Haruhi Suzumia (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya / Suzumiya Haruhi no Yūutsu).

CHATNOIR Catnap has been busy this last week and you can see it from the number of new releases in her store.

First, here's a rare calligraphy, that you would even not find in antiques shop in Japan even if you try hard. It reads in Japanese: "Yome no meshi ga mazui". In order words: "(my) bride's food is awkward".

About the radically different English translation, CHATNOIR explained to me that it's a joke, and that you can link the two sentences this way : "Without the power of love, there is a wall that you can't climb over."

Then, on a different note... CHATNOIR first tought about the upcoming spring season... And then about the Setsubun festival and its bean throwing on oni (ogres), then the mask of a woman that has turned into an oni from an excess of jealousy... She came back to the start and got the camellia, who symbolizes spring... Mixed the two together and came up with a "devil and flowers" kimono set.

And finally, twelve (!) sets of three textures for japanese sliding doors, the one below being one of them. There is certainly one that will fit your tastes. Come to have a look!

They are designed for a specific set of skins from Selos Dae (who is a creator in Kodama no Ki) but perhaps you can find them useful anyway! Each design was hand panted and inspired by real j-rockers or visual kei artists. Evercutting Crescent

Koenees Karas released Ichigo Kurosaki's (Bleach) zanpakutō sword. It's a fully scripted weapon with sounds, animations and special effects. Click here for TP.

It has two forms - shikai and bankai - and you can switch from one to the other. (Depending on what sheath you wear, you can keep it in the bankai form or not when sheathing it.) You can stab throw waves of energy, stab and paralyze your opponent, and so on. The shikai sheath, which is bandaged, would fit very well any traditional-like Japanese avatar. Simply having the word in your hand looks cool, but I guess you're in for more ;o)

One is related to his September 6th release: it is from the same music video (Au Revoir), though it was worn by band member Yu~ki. It uses sculpted feathers for the neck.

The other, "Dirty Faith" grasps the mood of the song of the same name from the band Nega, and reproduces its singer, Jin, tied into chains, expressing "how religion binds you".

Cyberpunk God of The Muffler

GANTZ Nishi released the FN-R, a reproduction of Cloud Strife's bike (Fenrir) from Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children. For those of you not familiar with FF, it has a long profile and is cyberpunk-like. It's available right here.

And it's thoroughly scripted. You can turn sharp corners, perform drifts, wheelies, burnouts, and there are five gears to adapt your speed to the landscape. One feature that I think adds a lot to the "real" factor is the included AO that will, among other things, make you weight-transfer when you turn.

Finally, good news: unlike some bikes, you don't have to wear most of the bike and sit on a plate of steel for it to appear! It is just one prim-savvy object (32 prims). That allows a passenger to sit with you and there are actually 5 poses for that. Bring him/her to a ride!

This is really a good choice if you were planning to get a bike.

How to Search in Kodama no Ki

This post is for you, when you are stuck in the following situation:

Many of you have suggested me to think of a way to allow you to search more easily in Kodama no Ki. I must then have replied that:

Sorting the mall into sections and keeping it sorted right would be administratively hard.
Having a search engine would contribute to lag, and maintaining it would take time as well.

Well. What about using a tool that the Lindens are already providing?

All you have to do is to head to this page, and search within it with your favorite browser. Then, click on one of the "Go" buttons, and you will be offered to TP right where the item is. (Sometimes you will arrive on the other side of the wall, but I can't help that ^^;) This can be done because in Kodama no Ki, TPs aren't clamped to a specific point. Landmarks you take within the mall will always lead to the exact same position, too.

This tool, of course, works only if creators have provided useful vendor names and descriptions. But for when they have not, I have put keywords in the buildigns that summarize the goods directly below. (Feel free to IM me if you think some are mistaken!)

I have added the link at the top of the right column so that you can access it quickly.

Fumina's range of products is the "little girl" style, that you could find in the streets of RL Akibahara, Harajuku or Amemura. Swing coats, formal dresses, sailor one pieces and so on; anything a western girl wouldn't even dare to wear nowadays.

Inescapable

If you ever went to Japan, you certainly have noticed that were ever you go, you can't escape from vending machines.

Selphie Oberts opened her shop in Kodama no Ki and her main line is just that. Udon, tobacco, etc... And of course, the anime icon, Pocky! Part of the line is the Natsukashii series, that have a retro feeling.

You will also find miscellaneous builds worth a check: a green public telephone, portable shrines, etc. And an offshore landscape from Ise!

BRS and Classroom

Black Rock Shooter, from the anime of the same name. It's a complete avatar (includes everything shown and more), and the cannon is scripted.

And in BRS like in many anime, there is a Japanese-style classroom, whose design is similar through all schools in Japan. Utilizator reproduced such a classroom. The pack includes the room as a whole or in parts (desks, chairs, hallway). Something you must have if you build a RPG SIM!

Name It, Show It

You know you're a Dragon Ball fan and you want to show it. Koenees Karas has prepared such a typing overrider for you in his shop. When you type, it will show the Dragon Ball name in katakana, one kana after the other. It is also worth mentioning that it is highly customizeable, and you can also link it to another attachment without breaking the scripts.

The cute. Actually, Cute from Queen Blade's Spiral Chaos. Available in three colors: black (dark grey), blue (metallic), and red (pinkish). Her face is expressive; eyes blink and the mouth moves as you type. You can also change her expression through a HUD.

And after a long click anywhere in the screen, she will hop on her blades and hoverjet magical girl-like.

And the dark. Oka Hachirō's super suit from Gantz. For those of you unfamiliar with the Gantz universe, this is a sci-fi armor with huge gauntlets that reach your feet - makes you look like a robotic monkey. (Note: on the image below I put a slight halo for the character to show okay over black.)

And yes, the gauntlets attack. A punch, an uppercut, a plasma beam through the hole in the hand, and a blade attack with the pointy elbows. All of these are accessible through a small HUD. Shown below is the beginning of the plasma beam attack.

Jikatabi Update

Just a short notice for those who bought my jikatabi. I found a small bug in the script bundled in the left foot: the color menu shows "beni" as an option where the script understands "tokiwa". To get the update, wear your update card while standing in my shop and touch the jikatabi vendor.

A Freebie Out of Curiosity

The other day, when I asked mappy Handrick if his name is that of the 1983 Namco game, he denied so, and told me that it was just his childhood nickname.

But then I remembered how easy it was to die in the game - well at least on the NES/Famicon version. All you have to do is to wait two seconds. If you don't move you're done; a pink cat will get to you. I think the reason why I remembered it so much is that the normal music and the dying music blend it so well in that case that it is like one melody. Back then we would start and restart the game to hear the mouse dying with the music.

That was a fun idea for an animated gesture, so I made one! (^ ^)

In Japan these usually bloom around automnal equinox. They are planted near cemeteries or used at funerals to guide the dead towards the buddhist next reincarnation, or around paddies or house to keep pest away (the bulbs are poisonous).

There are four packs available: white, red, red with particles, red with particles and sit animations. I have put three samples of the fourth set in the south east corner of the mall, if you want to see how they feel like. (Note: with that version, the particles start when you sit).
